Bored With Your Board

.....Are you bored with your board? What if you could turn your meeting into a social event and you could invite anyone you wanted, and they would come. I’ve read and heard about imaginary board meetings where people invite great marketers of the past into their minds and discuss business decisions with them. Most, it seems, tend to invite business greats and great thinkers like Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Alva Edison and Abe Lincoln. Then they ask them: how do I grow my business? Still boring.

.....But what about the current greats like Steve Jobs and Bill Gaits? Still boring, all business. So why not make it fun and invite your favorite current Hollywood celebrities and pro athletes? This is all in your mind anyway. Who would you want to spend time with? What might you learn about growing your business from people who navigate themselves through today’s largest enterprises, even if they actually know nothing about good decision making?

.....So why would you want people with no solid business decision making skills to sit in on a board meeting? Well, there are certain people who would bring a huge audience to your company merely with their presence. You don’t have to like them or even speak with them about anything important. Just shoot the breeze, allow the photo op to materialize, and watch your business grow.

.....I’ve comprised my own list of celebrities that might stir things up a bit and be a little more interesting than your typical board members. Read mine. Picture them at your next meeting. Then think about who you might invite.

.....My List: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston, Tiger Woods, Danica Patrick, Lebron James, Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Mel Gibson, Kristen Stewart, Derek Jeter, Michelle Wie, Will Smith, Taylor Swift, Hilary Swank, Usher. The reason for each is purely current popularity.
